Park Bench Cafe

29 07 2010

I love going to the park bench cafe…
It’s a great dog friendly spot in Huntington Beach. Hard to find parking sometimes, but their food is yum and… a very BIG and… they have a menu for dogs!! How fun! Scratch doesn’t eat scraps so the first time he got some of their chicken he ate it so fast he threw up haha.

Check out their website here.

beach time

20 07 2010

I took some family members to the dog beach so their doggies could experience the off leash heaven for the first time! It was so cool to see how different the dogs are when they are able to run around near other dogs… going into the water though- some dogs will, some dogs won’t. These doggies will not go! But it’s funny to see them get close :-)

Here is my aunt’s puggle- Herkie!

surfing+dogs=cool!

12 07 2010

Living near the beach now I love the idea of learning to surf… when I see that some dogs are better than me- well that’s just awesome!! Here is a cool site to see more about surfin dogs: http://www.surfcitysurfdog.com/

Married life..

28 06 2010

My oh my, I’m finally back! And with a shiny new ring I might add ;-) How does it feel? Well, for me, pretty much the same! But that’s a good thing. Before I dig back into the blogging life of dogs in the OC, here are some pictures from the wedding. Of course our doggie Scratch had to be a ringbearer, one that is totally in style duh!

Wedding Whoo Hoo!

11 05 2010

It’s finally here.. my wedding! Of course that doesn’t really have to do with doggies, although our dog Scratch will be our ring bearer, but I am taking some time off to plan and go on the honeymoon… I’ll be back mid-June to go full blast on my blog! See you then!

pit bull stereotype

3 05 2010

Isn’t it weird how everyone always thinks if a dog is a pitbull, even just part pit, it must be mean? Working at the Humane Society and being around a lot of pits myself I know that stereotype is completely WRONG! I love pit bulls and they are some of the most loving and caring dogs I’ve ever met. I was back in Tucson this weekend for a friend’s wedding and had the pleasure of spending time with Hucksley- a pit mix. He’s about four and has so many problems with getting valley fever, his knees being bad and of course his beautiful underbite, but he’s got a heart of gold. Always asking for hugs and belly rubs Hucksley is so sweet. He’s got it a bit more tough with his appearance and when his family takes him to the dog park they have to tell people he’s a boxer mix because people give them bad looks and have asked them to leave before. All I ask is that people give them a chance- it’s up to the owner to train the dogs to be good and if the owner treats them bad, what do you think will happen? The great thing is there is always room for rehabilitation in dogs, they just need a chance….

So next time you see a pit bull walking by ask the owner if you can pet them, because chances are they’ll take in the lovin’ you give and maybe even give you a kiss or two!
